The weather forecast looks great in anticipation of the 2019 Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill this weekend.
This is always one of the most popular stops on the PGA Tour, and several of the game’s biggest stars will be in attendance.
This par-72, 7,419 yard course has changed in shape in recent years, and the game’s biggest hitters have a clear advantage.
Water is in play in at least nine of the holes, and there is always some drama on Sunday.
PGA TOUR
Let’s take a look at the betting odds before making a pick on this year’s winner.
Favourites:
Rory McIlroy +650: McIlroy was the 2018 winner at Bay Hill as he cruised to a three-stroke victory with an impressive final round. McIlroy has four straight finishes inside the top-5, and is playing some great golf. No surprise he is the favorite.
Brooks Koepka +1100: Koepka has struggled at Bay Hill in the past, missing the cut in his last time out in this event. He is getting such great odds due to the fact that he is playing terrific golf of late. Koepka finished in a second place tie at the Honda Classic, and he has been a winner in recent tournaments.
Justin Rose +1100: Justin Rose has already won on the PGA Tour this season, winning the Farmers Insurance Open in January. Rose is the second ranked golfer in the world, and is always a threat to win when he tees it up.
Rickie Fowler +1200: Rickie Fowler always seems to be in the mix, despite struggling to finish off the deal. Fowler finished in second place at the Honda Classic, and his ability to drive the ball should treat him well here.
Bryson DeChambeau +1400: DeChambeau was one of the hottest golfers in the world at the end of 2018, and has had some past success in this event. Getting off to a good start is a huge key for this young golfer.
Jason Day +1400: Jason Day has had some success in this event in the past, winning at Bay Hill in 2016. Day kind of flies under the radar, but he is also capable of winning any tournament that he enters.
Contenders:
Marc Leishman +2500
Hideki Matsuyama +2800
Francesco Molinari +3300
Tommy Fleetwood +3300
Patrick Reed +4000
Phil Mickelson +4500
Keep an eye on Tommy Fleetwood from this group of contenders. Fleetwood is still looking for his first PGA Tour victory, but he has been successful at Bay Hill in the past, and has been tearing up the European Tour.
Longshots:
Billy Horschel +5000
Bubba Watson +5000
Henrik Stenson +5000
Ian Poulter +5000
Lucas Glover +5000
Charles Howell III +5500
Jason Kokrak +5500
Louis Oosthuizen +5500
Rafael Cabrera Bello +5500
Si Woo Kim +5500
Tyrrell Hatton +5500
Daniel Berger +6600
Hao Tong Li +6600
Keegan Bradley +6600
Luke List +6600
Byeong Hun An +7000
Cameron Champ +8000
J.B. Holmes +8000
Michael Thompson +8000
Zach Johnson +8000
Adam Hadwin +9000
Matt Every +9000
Matt Every +9000 won this event in both 2014 and 2015 and is someone to keep an eye on this weekend. Every hasn’t had much success outside of this event, but he clearly has a good feel for Bay Hill.
Everyone Else +10000 or Higher
The Betting Pick: Bryson DeChambeau +1400– DeChambeau has gotten off to a slow start this season, but he was arguably the best golfer in the world at the end of last season. DeChambeau has won four of his last 11 starts, and was a second place finisher at this tournament a year ago. Putting always plays a huge role at the Arnold Palmer Classic, and not many people do it better than he does. Bet Bryson DeChambeau +1400 to win the 2018 Arnold Palmer Classic.
