McGregor Being Denied Main Event Status By UFC March 11, 2019 Adrian Sterne https://plus.google.com/u/0/107032931670136448831

For the last four years, Irish superstar Conor McGregor has been the UFC’s cash cow.

Pay-per-view cards where McGregor has been the Main Event hit new records for the MMA organization and helped them to bring in millions of dollars.

McGregor’s last fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 in October 2018 recorded the highest selling pay-per-views for the UFC with over $2 million buys.

The UFC are eager to get Conor McGregor back into the ring but there seems to be a problem!

The UFC has made it a practice to always have a UFC title fight as its Main Event whenever it hosts a pay-per-view card. There have been a few exceptions but the general rule is to give fans a Main Event where a championship is on the line.

Conor McGregor who was a two division champion automatically headlined events in the past but this time around there is a problem for the UFC. McGregor is no longer holds a belt and is also not in line to challenge anyone for a title shot. This is why the UFC has not entertained the idea of having McGregor headline the next event he fights at.

McGregor had earlier accepted a fight against UFC veteran Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone but so far no contract has been signed. Inside sources state that McGregor isn’t happy with the UFC for not allowing him to Main Event the pay-per-view and has refused to sign a contract.

Cowboy who has a reputation for fighting frequently has been upset with the delay and has called on McGregor to sign the contract but he isn’t getting the Irish superstar’s attention.

Will The UFC Cave In?

McGregor is the biggest star in the MMA world by far and UFC President Dana White has made a lot of exceptions for McGregor in the past, stating that McGregor deserved the extra privileges as he helped the UFC turn into the massive organization that it is today.

There are a number of ex-MMA fighters who believe that McGregor should headline as without question he is the Main Event, irrespective of which title fight in on the card. Will the UFC cave in to McGregor’s demands and get him to step into the Octagon one more time or will Dana White finally put his foot down and test Conor McGregor’s resolve?

That’s a hard one to answer as Dana White is a business man but at the same time a stubborn man. McGregor is reportedly targeting a fall return, so a decision will have to be made by the UFC and McGregor very shortly!
