Oregon is looking to capitalize on the sports betting market and bettors in the state are eager to start using the new Scoreboard gambling app that will shortly be launched by the Oregon Lottery. This will allow every smartphone in the state to become a portable gambling device which is worrying to gambling opponents.
As early as next week, the Oregon Lottery will launch their innovative Scoreboard betting app which will allow for easy wagering. Players will be able to deposit up to $250,000 into their account which is an exceptionally high amount. This also means that bettors can potentially wager a single bet as high as a quarter of a million dollars. It also doesn’t help that there are also no limits to the amount of bets that can be placed each month.

It looks like legislators in Oregon came up with sports betting regulations that are way too liberal. It will definitely benefit sports betting operators and bring in lots of money to the state coffers by way of betting taxes but it will also put sports bettors in the state at risk as there appears to be very little restrictions to keep their betting in check. The Scoreboard app from the state lottery is a prime example of having too much leeway.
However, the governor’s office says that the Scoreboard app has a number of built in processes that will protect bettors. The Oregon Lottery has ensured that bettors will be able to fix their own limits and have the option to temporarily or permanently ban themselves from betting in the state. There will be even pop-ups and emails to risky players to warn them about their behaviour. The betting app will allow gamblers to see a history of their bets so that they know how much they have been betting and how frequently they bet each week or month.
Oregon admits that the state is highly dependent on its lottery as a source of state funding. The lottery generates over a billion dollars, making it the second-highest earner for the state after personal taxes. This is one of the main reasons why the lottery has launched its new Scoreboard betting app as it will create a new revenue stream.
Oregon will have a three phase roll out of sports betting. The first is online and mobile sports betting, followed by self-styled betting kiosks and then lottery style betting games.
