UFC fans are very keen to see Jon ‘Bones’ Jones step up and challenge new UFC heavyweight champ Francis Ngannou for the belt. While both Ngannou and Jones are keen to fight each other, the fight may not materialize as Jones has made it clear that he wants upwards of $10 million to face The Predator.
UFC President Dana White has told the media that if Jones continues to play hardball, they will skip him and give the title shot to Derrick Lewis. Jones has called the UFC’s bluff and asked them to give the title shot to Lewis.
However, Jon Jones continues to train as if he is going to fight soon and has now hired Stan Efferding to help him with his training.
Stan Efferding a.k.a “The White Rhino” is an IFBB professional bodybuilder and the author of the Vertical Diet. Efferding lives in Las Vegas but has moved temporarily to New Mexico to work with Jon Jones and prepare him for his potential heavyweight championship fight.
We know that Jon Jones invests heavily on training and looks to hire only the best coaches in the world whether it be for his dog ‘Dutch’ or himself. Efferding is not just a master when it comes to putting on muscle but his knowledge on nutrition, sleep, peak performance and training top athletes in the world will bring huge benefits to Jon Jones and his camp.
Jon Jones has already posted on Instagram that Stan Efferding has set his camp on fire. Jones relinquished his belt at light-heavyweight and is now in the process of putting on more muscle and weight to be a serious threat at heavyweight. Jones already looks huge and Efferding will help him cut down on his fat percentage and achieve peak performance at heavyweight.
It has been over a year since Jon Jones stepped into the Octagon as his last fight was in Feb 2020. Jones is keen to fight as soon as possible but given the fact that the UFC is playing hardball, it is possible that Jones may not fight in 2021. Jones has expressed his frustration with the UFC and has even asked for his release.
UFC President Dana White is known for being able to work through tough challenges and make the top fights that the fans want to see. We will have to wait a few more weeks to find out if the UFC can put together Ngannou vs. Jones!
