The first test match in the five match test series between England and India turned out to be an exciting game.
India went in as the betting underdogs but certainly had a better test match than the hosts England.
India was on top going into the fifth and final day and looked like they could pull off a win. However the weather interfered and play was called off which resulted in the match ending in a draw.
England will consider themselves lucky to come out with a draw after they had a poor performance with the bat in both innings.

The only reason England got to a respectable total in both innings was because their captain Joe Root notched up a half century in the first innings and a century in the second innings.
England enter as slight betting favorites with William Hill odds of 2.30 for the second test while India are still the underdogs with odds of 2.40. The second test will take place from August 12 to 16 at Lord’s. The odds for a draw are currently at 5.00. The weather forecast for all 5 days looks good as there is a bit of cloud but rain is not expected to have any impact on the game.

Former England captain Michael Vaughn believes England needs to make a minimum of two changes going into the second test. Vaughn says the batting department is relying too heavily on Joe Root and is in need of more support. He wants Zak Crawley, Dom Sibley and Dan Lawrence to be dropped but does not believe that will happen.
If England decide to stick with the same batting line-up, they will need their senior players like Jos Butler and Jonny Bairstow to make more runs and take some of the pressure off Joe Root.
India got their playing XI right for the first test by going in with four fast bowlers and Ravindra Jadeja instead of Ravichandran Ashwin. It looks like India will most likely play the same squad for the Lord’s test provided all players remain fit.
KL Rahul looked good at the top of the order and is likely to open for the remainder of the series. Captain Virat Kohli needs to play a big knock and help India take a 1-0 lead after the second test.
