The inaugural ICC World Test Championship (WTC) is set to take place at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton from June 18 to 22.
India and New Zealand finished as top two teams on the ICC Test points system and they will square off to see who becomes the first ever World Test Champions.
The WTC final is taking place at a neutral venue (England) in order to give both sides a fair crack of the whip.

Bet365 thinks that this is going to be a closely contested test match and has given both teams odds of 13/10 while the odds for the gaming ending in a draw are currently 4/1.
Expect these odds to change as we lead up to the match. The weather forecast for the game is generally good with no rain expected, except on day 3. However, the rains are not expected to play spoilsport and wash out an entire day’s play. The teams should be able to get on with the cricketing action and produce a result.
While the sportsbooks think that both sides are evenly matched, our cricket experts think that New Zealand certainly have a big advantage over India.
New Zealand are coming off a two match test series in England. The first test ended in a draw and the second test concluded a day early on June 13 as the Kiwis hammered England and won by 8 wickets. This victory will give New Zealand a lot of confidence as this was their first test series win against England in England since 1999.
New Zealand’s batsmen have grown accustomed to playing in conditions that swing and seam and will definitely be better prepared to face India’s pace attack. The Kiwi bowlers have also had enough time to learn how to adjust their line and length and were more than a handful for the English batsmen.
India on the other hand are coming out of the 2021 IPL which was cancelled midways due to COVID-19. They haven’t had any warm up game in England and their overseas test record shows that they usually end up losing the first test as it takes them time to get used to overseas conditions.
However, don’t write India off as their desire to win the WTC is very strong and they are the number 1 test team in the world. As far as we are concerned, we are going to learn towards New Zealand and put our money on them.
