The 2021 IPL is set to resume from Sep 19 in the United Arab Emirates. The 2021 IPL commenced as usual in India during the summer but had to come to a stop in early May once the IPL bubble was breached and multiple players and staff contracted COVID-19.
The BCCI did a great job in collaborating with the ICC and different cricket boards to create a window just before the ICC 2021 T20 World Cup. The second half of the 2021 IPL will take place in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah and run from Sep 19 to Oct 16.
Most of the players taking part in the IPL are already in the UAE and are training. Indian players that were part of the test squad in England came on chartered planes to the UAE and are currently in quarantine.
The first game to resume the 2021 IPL in the UAE will see defending champions Mumbai Indians take on the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

CSK had a terrible run in the 2020 IPL in the UAE and were eliminated for the first time in IPL history before the playoffs. They played very well in India during the first part of the IPL and now sit in second place on the IPL points table.
Bet365 has them as the betting favorites for this game with odds of 1.80 while Mumbai Indians have odds of 2.0. It’s hard to call this game as we don’t know how CSK is going to play in the UAE and whether Mumbai Indians can bounce back after having a poor run in India and finishing fourth on the IPL points table.
We are going to back CSK to win this game as they are playing a side that is a lot stronger than the side that played in 2020.
The two CSK players that you need to watch out for is the skipper MS Dhoni, Deepak Chahar and Sam Curran. Dhoni holds the key as whenever he is on top of his game, CSK plays well. D Chahar has been brilliant for CSK picking up early wickets and if he can continue, CSK will be hard to beat.
Captain Rohit Sharma did not play well in the first part of the IPL and he needs to fire. Mumbai Indians will also depend on T Boult to get them early wickets.
