Lewis Hamilton has dominated the F1 circuit and has won the last four F1 Championships and six out of the last seven F1 Championships. The Brit re-signed with Mercedes but for just one year and was once again the favorite to win the 2021 F1 Championship.
Hamilton started 2021 in style yet again winning the Bahrain Grand Prix in March 2021 but ended up taking second place during the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix which took place in April. Max Verstappen from Red Bull took first place and is all set to challenge Hamilton for the 2021 Grand Prix Championship.

The third grand prix for this year is the Portuguese Grand Prix and the 7 time F1 Champion is the betting favorite but only by a small margin. Bet365 has Hamilton as the favorite with odds of 2.25 while Max Verstappen is second with odds of 2.37. The next two contenders are Sergio Perez with odds of 9.00 and Hamilton’s long-time rival Valtteri Bottas who has odds of 9.50.
Hamilton is currently sitting at the top of the F1 points table and is ahead of Verstappen but by only 1 point. The British F1 star told media that he was quite excited to see Verstappen challenge him this season and said he was looking forward to racing and competing against him at the Portuguese Grand Prix.
Hamilton has been dominant for the last couple of seasons and is happy to see Verstappen pushing him to bring out the best in him.
Unbeaten F1
When Hamilton ended up signing just a one year contract with Mercedes, there were rumours floating around that Hamilton might be calling it a day after this season. However, Hamilton has confirmed that he has no plans to retire anytime soon and will be back in 2022.
The 36 year old did not confirm if he will extend his contract with Mercedes but spoke highly of the team and said that he would like to continue working with them. Hamilton has been a big supporter of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement and has been very outspoken about the lack of support for coloured athletes in F1.
Mercedes recently signed a deal with the Association for Black and Minority Ethnic Engineers which will enable Mercedes to provide support to engineers from a minority group.
