We take a look at the betting odds for some of the top fights that are featured on this card.
* Odds have been provided by BetOnline and are accurate as of 20/10/2020
Khabib Nurmagomedov goes in with a 28-0 record and is unsurprisingly the betting favorite with odds of -350 to Justin Gaethje’s +285. No one has been able to solve the puzzle that is Khabib Nurmagomedov so far and the UFC champ is keen to keep his record spotlight with a win over Gaethje. The UFC has Michael Chandler who recently signed with the promotion on standby in the UAE should anything happen to Khabib or Gaethje.
While the odd makers have written of Gaethje, MMA pundits believe that this will be the biggest challenge that Khabib has faced in his career. Khabib is not a striker but Justin Gaethje is one of the most dangerous strikers in the game. Khabib dominates his opponents by taking them to the ground and finishing them with ground and pound strikes or a submission.
Gaethje is an NCAA accomplished wrestler although he prefers not to use his wrestling as it impacts his cardio. Gaethje says he is confident that he can stop Khabib from taking him down and even if he should go down, he will be able to get up on his feet. He told the media that if one man can keep me down, then two men can rape me and I will be damned if Khabib will keep me down.
It’s hard to bet against Khabib given his dominance in the Octagon.
Former UFC middleweight champ Robert Whittaker (+100) will take on Jared Cannonier (-120) in what is most likely a fight for a chance to be the number one contender to challenge UFC champ Israel Adesanya for the belt.
Cannonier hits hard and has great takedown defence and has a slight edge over Whittaker in our opinion. If Whittaker can avoid the big punches, he should try and play a points game to win by decision.
Other interesting fights on this card include a heavyweight clash between Alexander Volkov (-178) vs. Walt Harris (+153), Magomed Ankalaev (-300) vs. Ion Cutelaba (+250) and Stefan Struve (-113) vs. Tai Tuivasa (-107).
