We take a look at the betting odds for three exciting fights on this card and give you our expert prediction.
Adesanya vs. Blachowicz
The Main Event for UFC 259 is a title fight between UFC lightheavyweight champ Jan Blachowicz and UFC welterweight champ Israel Adesanya. This will be the first title defence for Blachowicz while Adesanya is stepping up a weight class after UFC 253 to see if he can become a two division champion.
BetOnline has Adesanya as the favorite with odds of -230 while Blachowicz is the underdog with odds of +195. Adesanya has not put on any extra weight for this fight and is going to rely on his technique and precision to get the better of Blachowicz. There is no doubt that Adesanya is a phenomenal striker but will his precision be enough to stop the Blachowicz?
The bookmakers think so but we don’t! We suggest backing Blachowicz as we believe he will give Israel Adesanya his first loss in the UFC!
Nunes vs. Anderson
While Adesanya is trying to become a two division champ, Amanda Nunes is a two division champ that has dominated both divisions. She steps into the Octagon on March 6 to defend her featherweight championship against the tall Aussie fighter Megan Anderson.
No surprises that the bookmakers have Nunes as the heavy betting favorite at -1400 while Anderson is at +700. It’s hard to see Megan Anderson winning this fight as Nunes is better on the feet as well as on the ground. The best chance for Anderson to win is to catch Nunes off-guard and see if she can capitalize with some heavy strikes as Anderson is a big girl.
We are going to stay with the bookmakers and back Amanda Nunes to win.
Yan vs. Sterling
Russian Petr Yan will defend his UFC bantamweight belt for the first time against Aljamain Sterling. The bookmakers currently have both fighters at -110 but we don’t think this is going to be a close fight.
Sterling’s biggest strength is his wrestling and he is going to try to take Yan down and dominate him. However, Yan is very quick on his feet and is also a good wrestler. We predict that Yan will win by TKO as his striking is way better than Sterling.
