Alexander Volkanovski vs. Brian Ortega
UFC featherweight champ Alexander Volkanovski will face Brian Ortega in the Main Event. The two have been part of the recent Ultimate Fighter series and have built up their rivalry during the show. Volkanovski enters as the betting favorite with odds of 1.64 while Ortega has odds of 2.30.
The last time Ortega fought for the title was against former champ Max Holloway and Ortega was outclassed big time Ortega has imposed significantly since that fight and knows that if he blows this title shot, the next one might be a long ways off.
The champ has good striking but relies a lot on his wrestling to get the better of his opponents. Ortega is a whiz on the ground and it will be interesting to see if Volkanovski tries to take him down. We are going to bet on the champ to win.
Some of the other top fights include Curtis Blaydes vs. Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Jessica Andrade vs. Cynthia Calvillo. But the two stand out fights are the main promotion are:
Valentina Shevchenko vs. Lauren Murphy
The biggest underdog on the card is veteran Lauren Murphy who will be challenging the UFC flyweight champ Shevchenko who has run through just about everyone in the division.
We think Shevchenko (1.06) will win this fight as she is better in the stand-up and on the ground. This fight will be a lot more competitive though as Murphy (8.50) is tough to put away.
Nick Diaz vs. Robbie Lawler 2
The bookmakers have both fighters with odds of 1.90 but we are going to give Nick Diaz a slight edge given the fact that he won the first fight against Lawler back in 2004.
Diaz hasn’t fought in over 6 years but looks in great shape and knows a win over Lawler could set up a big money fight for him in the future.
