Garbrandt’s last fight showcased why he is one of the most exciting fighters in the bantamweight division as he finished his fight with Raphael Assuncao with a spectacular KO.
However, it’s been nearly a year since Garbrandt has stepped into the Octagon as he has had to deal with issues in his personal life and injuries.
Cody Garbrandt appears to have split with his wife although no official announcement has been made by the two. Those who follow him and his wife on Instagram have noted that the two no longer post pictures of each other and appear to have moved on. No Love is quite an emotional character and we need to see if the behind the scenes drama will impact his performance on Saturday night.
Garbrandt will go in with confidence though as the last man to beat Rob Font was Raphael Assuncao whom he KO’d. Garbrandt loves to stand and strike and so does Rob Font, so fans can expect a banger.
Rob Font is definitely going to be one of the toughest tests that Garbrandt has faced in recent times. Garbrandt is 1-2 in his last two fights and knows that he must win if he is going to revive his UFC career. If Garbrandt shows up with a clean mind and has his emotions under control, he should win!
Bookmakers currently have both Garbrandt and Font tied with odds of -110.
The UFC has put together a pretty good card for May 22 but a number of these fights are flying under the radar. One of those fights is a middleweight bout between Jack ‘The Joker’ Hermansson (-150) and Edmen Shahbazyan (+130). Hermansson is a wizard on the ground but does not have great striking while Shahbazyan has great striking but is not great on the ground.
Carla Esparza (+100) will take on Yan Xiaonan (-120) in the co-main event and the winner of this fight will definitely make a strong case for being next or next in line for a title shot at the UFC bantamweight champion.
