The Brazilian Paulo Costa will fight for the first time after his loss to UFC middleweight champ Israel Adesanya at UFC 253. Costa suffered the first loss his in MMA career and is looking to bounce back with a win. He informed the media during fight week that he would not be able to make the stipulated weight of 185 pounds and worked out a deal with the UFC and his opponent to have the fight at catchweight.
The two fighters will now fight at 195 pounds and Costa will pay 20 percent of his purse to Vettori who is the betting favorite with odds of 1.54 while Costa is the underdog with odds of 2.59. We are going to back Vettori to win by decision because he does have a better ground game than Costa.
Two fights that you should watch out for include a bantamweight fight in the women’s division between Jessica-Rose Clark and Joselyne Edwards. She is coming off a TKO win against Sarah Alpar in 2020 and goes into this fight very confident. Edwards is coming off a loss and goes in as the underdog with odds of 2.35 while Jessica-Rose Clark is the favorite at 1.64.
Also watch out for a lightweight fight on the prelims between Brit Mason Jones and David Onama. This is going to be a banger as Jones has only one loss on his record and Onama is undefeated. Jones is a huge betting favorite with odds of 1.23 while Onama is the underdog with odds of 4.20.
Dawson vs. Glenn
Grant Dawson will fight Rick Glenn in the co-main event at lightweight. Dawson has only lost once in 18 fights and goes in as the betting favorite with odds of 1.21 while Glenn is a big underdog with odds of 1.21. He is a great submission specialist and has 11 wins via submission and 4 via KO/TKO.
His toughest fight to date we believe will be against the veteran Glenn who is fighting for the first time since 2018. We are going to put our money on Dawson for this fight.
