Summary
- 2022 IPL has turned out to be very successful for the BCCI
- IPL Championship final takes place on 29 May
- Gujarat Titans to play winner of Rajasthan Royals vs. Royal Challengers Bangalore
The six week long Indian Premier League (IPL) T20 extravaganza will come to a close on May 29 as the 2022 IPL Championship final is set to take place in Ahmedabad.
The Gujarat Titans (GT) have already booked themselves a place in the final and will play the winner of Qualifier 2 which sees Rajasthan Royals (RR) take on Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
The 2021 IPL had to be stopped mid-ways in India due to an outbreak of COVID-19 and the BCCI had to move the remainder of the tournament to the UAE. The BCCI took a chance this season to once again host the 2022 IPL in India but played it safe by restricting the venues and limiting the travel of all IPL franchises.
There were a few hiccups but the BCCI has managed to pull off a very successful 2022 IPL and will be pleased with the results. The IPL is a huge cash cow for the BCCI, sponsors, IPL franchises and all of the players. The BCCI will also be pleased with the performance of the two new IPL franchises that were added this year.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans played very well in the 2022 IPL as both franchises made it to the playoffs. LSG ended up losing the Eliminator game against RCB but will be pleased with their overall performance.
GT have looked the most dominant team and are just one win away from lifting their first IPL Championship. They will play the winner of Qualifier 2 which takes place on May 27 in Ahmedabad. RR will play RCB in what is expected to be a really close game.
GT will not be too concerned which team wins Qualifier 2 as they will back themselves to beat whoever the play in the 2022 IPL Championship final. Captain Hardik Pandya has done a phenomenal job with GT as he has led from the front with both bat and ball. If for some reason GT falter in the final, they can be proud of their performance in their first ever IPL season.
