Alistair Overeem Needs To Win To Keep His UFC Championship Dream Alive September 4, 2020 Adrian Sterne https://plus.google.com/u/0/107032931670136448831

Alistair OvereemWhen it comes to the most elite MMA athletes in the world, Alistair Overeem must definitely be on the list. He is one of the two fighters to hold titles in both kick-boxing and MMA.

His resume is star studded with accolades that include being the K-1 World Grand Prix Champion and DREAM Heavyweight Champion and Strikeforce Heavyweight Champion.

The only championship that the Reem has yet to wear around his waist is the UFC Heavyweight championship. Reem came close to winning the UFC heavyweight belt when he challenged the champion Stipe Miocic for the belt in 2016. However, Reem ended up losing that fight and his dream to become UFC Heavyweight champion took a detour.

During the last four years, Reem has had some extremely difficult fights. He has won some of them and lost a few of them. On Sep 5, the Reem will once again headline a UFC card as he takes on the young and dangerous Augusto Saki

Reem goes in to the fight as the favorite with odds of -165 while Saki is the underdog with odds of +135 with Bovada. Alistair Overeem turned 40 in May and knows that he is nearing the end of his illustrious combat sports career. He claims that he has one more title run left in him and for that to happen, he needs to get a win over Saki in impressive fashion on Saturday night.

Reem is coming off a win against Walt Harris whom he defeated by TKO in May. If he can string together another win on Saturday night, he can then push for a fight with a top 5 opponent.

Reem Open To Fighting Jon Jones

Alistair Overeem spent a lot of time training at Jackson-Wink over the years but has since moved on. During his time with Jackson-Wink, Reem has trained with Jon Jones and the two share a mutual respect for each other.

With Jon Jones planning a move to heavyweight, Reem has no hesitation in fighting Jones and claims that it would be an honour for him to welcome Jones to the heavyweight division. That fight would be an interesting fight for the fans but is likely not going to happen at this point in time as Jon Jones is interested in fighting Stipe Miocic directly for the belt or taking on Brock Lesnar for a big money fight.
