Summary
- Antonio Brown considering defamation lawsuit against Bucs
- Claims team offered him $200k to go to crazy house
- Brown keen on joining Baltimore Ravens
Antonio Brown is right up there with being one of the most controversial athletes to play in the NFL.
Brown was terminated from his contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after he threw his jersey and helmet away after the Bucs won a game against the New York Jets.
Brown joined the Bucks as a wide receiver in 2020 and brought with him a lot of controversy. He was accused of sexual assault and rape of a former training partner. He settled the lawsuit in April 2021. He played for the Bucs in 2021 and ended up with 42 catches across 545 yards. He played 7 games and had four scores.
Brown isn’t happy with the way his old team treated him and shared that they were willing to give him $200,000 to go to a crazy house. He opened up on Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel and said the Bucks tried to get him to sign an agreement that would see him receive $200k in exchange for sitting on the sidelines and checking himself into a mental health clinic.
He said the Bucs GM instructed him twice in writing to not spin this story any other way to the media. Brown says he found the entire episode quite disrespectful as he felt the Bucs were playing with his mental health. Brown along with his attorney Sean Burstyn are contemplating filing a defamation lawsuit against the Bucs. He is yet to decide how much he wants to sue the Bucs for but confirmed that it will be for a lot of money.
Brown who is now a free agent said that he had received interest from two teams already. His personal preference for now is to join the Baltimore Ravens and play alongside 2019 MVP Lamar Jackson. The two share a good relationship and have trained together in the past. Jackson has come out and said that he would be happy to play with Brown if the Ravens did end up signing him.
The Ravens could definitely use a player like Brown but it depends whether they want to bring on a controversial player who is allegedly battling mental health issues.
