  • Australia have lost two consecutive tests and conceded the Border-Gavaskar Trophy
  • Skipper Pat Cummins returns to Australia for personal reasons
  • Australian fans extremely disappointed with team’s performance in India

The Australian cricket team is in crisis mode as they look to address multiple problems ahead of their third test against India.

Australia have lost the first two tests in the four match test series and in doing so have conceded the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to India for the 4th consecutive time.

Pat Cummins Returns To Australia

Australian skipper Pat Cummins knew that this test series in India was going to be his toughest challenge as captain till date but he certainly would not have expected his team to have performed so poorly.

Australia lost the first test to India by an innings and 132 runs. They fought back in the second test in Delhi and at one stage had a 62 run lead with 9 wickets in hand. However, they suffered an embarrassing collapse losing 9 wickets in 9 minutes which ultimately led to a 6 wicket loss.

Australia have a small break ahead of the third test in Indore which starts on March 1. Skipper Pat Cummins will not be getting any rest as Cricket Australia has confirmed that Cummins has returned to Australia due to personal reasons. Cricket Australia said that Cummins had to deal with a serious illness in his family and asked for his privacy to be respected.

As of now, Cummins is expected to return to India in time for the third test and captain the side as usual. This move to rush Cummins back for the third test could backfire as the skipper is already under a lot of pressure after losing the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. His personal issues plus the long flight to Australia and back will take its toll mentally and physically.

Cummins should be rested for the third test as he hasn’t made much of a difference in the first two tests, taking just 3 wickets at an average of 39.66 and his captaincy has also come under the scanner.

Aussie Fans Blast Poor Performance In India

Aussie bettors and cricket fans have taken to social media to call for major changes after seeing their team steam rolled in the first two tests. The selectors are highly unlikely to make any major changes ahead of the third test but another poor performance at Indore could see players like David Warner and Matthew Renshaw get cut.
