NBA analysts predicted a few weeks ago that the defending champs, the LA Lakers would be favorites to win back-to-back NBA Championships. However, things just got a lot tougher as the Brooklyn Nets will be a serious contender for the NBA Championship.
NBA All-Star James Harden made it clear that he was unhappy with the Houston Rockets. One of the reasons Harden was unhappy was because he did not feel that the Rockets had done enough in strengthening their team.
Harden has carried the Rockets for the last few seasons by himself and knows that he needs a better partner or two to help the Rockets win an NBA Championship.

Harden was keen to join another NBA team that had enough talent to go all the way and win an NBA Championship. The Rockets have now traded James Harden to the Brooklyn Nets. Harden now joins his former Oklahoma City colleague Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. The move gives the Nets a unique advantage as these three players have the ability to shine and beat anytime on any given night.
Steve Nash who is the head coach of the Brooklyn Nets was very happy to get Harden on board. He said the key would be for all of the players to combine well and work together as a team with a common goal from the start.
The Houston Rockets did not want to let go off James Harden. However, seeing that Harden was set on leaving, they did not want to stand in his way. They worked out a mega-deal that involved a number of teams to complete the trade off to the Brooklyn Nets.
The mega deal involved a four team trade off where the Nets got Harden in exchange for multiple players and draft picks. The Rockets secured the services of Rodions Kurucs from the Nets and guard Dante Exum from the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Rockets also get the three unprotected Net’s first round draft picks for 2022, 2024 and 2026. They also get pick swaps for 2021, 2023, 2025 and 2027.
The Nets also gave the Rockets guard Caris LeVert who was traded to the Indiana Pacers for Victor Oladipo. The Cavaliers secured Taurean Prince and Jarrett Allen who are from the Nets. The Nets also secured a second round pick in 2024 from the Cavaliers.
