Cleveland Browns Open To Hiring Female Head Coach November 19, 2018 Adrian Sterne https://plus.google.com/u/0/107032931670136448831

Condoleezza RiceThe world is familiar with the name Condoleezza Rice as she held a prominent position as the former Secretary of State under the George W. Bush administration. Rice made the headlines over the weekend as rumours broke that she was going to be the first female candidate that the Cleveland Browns would interview for the role of head coach.

There has never been a female head coach in the history of the National Football League (NFL) and hence it was big news when General Manager for the Browns John Dorsey confirmed that the franchise was open to having a female head coach leading the team.

Cleveland Browns have had a miserable season so far and have won just 3 out of their ten matches so far. The Browns terminated their head coach Hue Jackson midway through the season as he failed in reversing the fortunes of the team even though the franchise added some great players to their roster including Baker Mayfield who was the first choice in the latest NFL draft.

Whoever takes on the role of the head coach is going to have a really tough task on their hands in trying to reverse the fortunes of the Cleveland Browns. Rice is a huge fan of the Browns and has a lot of ideas as to what the team should do to get back on the right track. She is a passionate follower of the NFL and is also touted to be in the running of being the next NFL Commissioner.

Rice Says Not Yet Ready To Coach

However, Rice quickly shutdown those rumours by stating that she would love to see more women being involved in coaching in the NFL and ultimately take over the head coach position but at this time she was not going to throw her hat in the ring.

In a statement, Rice said

I'm not ready to coach but I would like to call a play or two next season if the Browns need ideas! And at no time will I call for a ‘prevent defense’. One doesn't have to play the game to understand it and motivate players. But experience counts — and it is time to develop a pool of experienced women coaches
