Cowboys Will Have To Step Up Their Game Or Face Stick From Jones September 12, 2018 Adrian Sterne https://plus.google.com/u/0/107032931670136448831

dallas cowboysThe Dallas Cowboys struggled offensively in their Week 1 loss to the Carolina Panthers but owner Jerry Jones isn’t putting the blame on quarterback Dak Prescott. This would appear to indicate that he is looking in the direction of offensive coordinator Scott Linehan. A couple of days after the 16-8 loss, Jones ranked Prescott right up there with Cam Newton and Jared Goff.

He stated that he feels that Dak has the same vision and running ability as the elusive Newton. He also said that Norv Turner did a wonderful job with Cam on Sunday. Jones said that Prescott ranks somewhere between Newton and Jared Goff and that Dak can do many of the things that the other two can do. Prescott has rushed for 658 yards and tallied 12 rushing touchdowns in his brief career which demonstrates that he is able to put pressure on defenses when he scrambles. He only managed to rush for 19 yards on five carries in Week 1.

During Sunday’s telecast, Troy Aikman commented that the Dallas offense was not showing any signs of creativity. Jerry Jones’ son Steven, who is the executive vice president of the Cowboys, responded by calling Aikman an “armchair quarterback”.

Linehan Getting Some Support

Head Coach Jason Garrett also came to Linehan’s defense saying that he had a great deal of faith in Linehan’s play-calling abilities and that he has no intention of assuming control of those duties. However, he might be forced to change his tune if the struggles continue. Dallas gained just 60 yards in the first half of Sunday’s american football game and weren’t even able to move the football into the Panthers side of the field until the third quarter. Prescott passed for just 170 yards and he was sacked a total of six times.

Offensive Output Must Improve

Dak Prescott has only been able to reach the 200-passing-yard mark in 2 of his last 9 games which is quite alarming. In the seven games that he failed to reach the mark, Big D is just 2-5. With Dez Bryant and Jason Witten no longer there to reel in his passes, Prescott is left with receivers like Cole Beasley, Allen Hurns and Terrence Williams who are not exactly top-tier playmakers. Despite lacking the big play guys, Jones didn’t place blame on the lack of Dallas’ passing options for their poor offensive output on Sunday.
