While rumours continue to float of Kevin Durant leaving the Golden State Warriors after this season is over, team mate Draymond Green is not paying too much attention and believes the Warriors are not going to be impacted by any such rumours.
The unofficial consensus among NBA pundits is that Kevin Durant will sign with another team where he gets to be the main star.
It could be the New York Knicks or the LA Clippers or another franchise but it would be a team where he gets to leave a lasting legacy as the city’s hoops hero.
This will mean an end to the Warriors’ core team that has been unbeatable in NBA finals during the last few seasons.
Green and Durant had a spat earlier in the season and that made a lot of news on social media. The incident arose from a turnover Green committed that led to an eventual loss. Green and Durant ended up yelling at each other on the way to the bench, with Green calling out KD on his indecision to sign with the Warriors for the long term.

Whether Green still has a chip on his shoulder is hard to tell but he isn’t paying too much attention to Durant and does not believe his Warrior teammates are bothered by these on-going transfer rumours. He clarified that the Warriors only has one focus and that is winning the 2019 NBA Championship.
The media will always speculate about free agency especially when it comes to a superstar like Kevin Durant. Green acknowledges that his teammate is a part of that reality now but denies that the media coverage is having an impact on the Warriors. He put it in simple terms by saying if Durant decides to go then he goes but if he decides to stay, then he stays.
What makes things interesting and gives the media ammunition is that Durant has neither confirmed nor denied these rumours about him leaving the Warriors. The same drama played out last year when the media speculated that LeBron James would be leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers. James did not deny or confirm the rumours but at the end of the season he left the Cavaliers and joined the LA Lakers.
The Warriors will take heart from the fact that they have won some tough games recently without the presence of Kevin Durant. Should he leave, the Warriors will be in a tough spot as they don’t have the budget to bring in a top All Star!
