Eli Manning has been a key member of the New York Giants and many believed that he would finish his career with the Giants. However, ESPN analyst Matt Hasselbeck thinks that it would be in the best interests of the Giants and Manning if they were to trade the quarterback to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Giants have struggled this season and have a poor record which stands at 1-5. It is a disappointing run for the Giants who are at 4-18 combined for both this season and the last. A trade would be a chance to shake things up a bit and maybe push the Giants out of their rut.
In a statement, Hasselbeck said
I would do Eli Manning a solid. I would trade him to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jacksonville has a team and they’re making a run. It ends eventually for everyone. Eli Manning will always be a Giant. There will be a statue outside the stadium for him. I think it has to end sometime, so why not go out now a high note?
The problem that the New York Giants face is that despite the individual skill of players like Manning, they are struggling because the overall team isn’t as strong as it should be and there is only so much that a great like Manning can do. A trade with the Jaguars would be a good first step in recovering and repairing the team composition.

There are a couple of reasons why Hasselbeck thinks Eli Manning should be traded to the Jaguars. The first is that it will give him the opportunity to once again work with Tom Coughlin who is the current VP of football operations for the Jaguars. Coughlin is the ex-head coach of the Giants and he has favoured ex-Giants players which makes it a perfect move for Manning. Currently, the Jaguars have Bortles, who has similar numbers to Manning and a trade-off might make sense.
The Jaguars also have a shot at the Super Bowl and it would be an ideal way for Manning to finish his career by securing himself the chance to have one final shot – something that is going to be difficult considering the Giant’s current performance.
Hasselbeck thinks that any trade with Manning would allow the Giants to bring in new blood and look to turn things around. team. He pointed out that Oregon’s Justin Herbert and NC State’s Ryan Finley have the potential to be the Giants’ next quarterback.
