Summary
- Chael Sonnen arrested in Vegas for battery
- ESPN host could lose his job
- Jon Jones gives his views on Chael’s arrest
Former UFC fighter now turned ESPN commentator Chael Sonnen has a massive fan following on social media.
His fans were shocked to learn that Chael ‘The Bad Guy’ Sonnen was allegedly arrested by police in Las Vegas for battery. A video circulated on social media showing LVPD taking Chael away in handcuffs.
News also hit social media stating that Chael was not arrested but only detained. Unconfirmed reports suggest that Chael got into an altercation with a man and a woman while other reports state that Chael was engaged in an altercation with a man when the woman got involved and shouted for help. At the time of this writing, there was no clear report of what exactly happened.
Chael retired from the sport of MMA in 2019 but has continued to stay very relevant with this ESPN show and his YouTube videos covering everything on MMA. Chael also promotes ‘Submission Underground’ a grappling competition that features a number of MMA stars.
Chael has engaged in the past in Twitter feuds with former UFC lightweight champion Jon Jones who was also arrested by LVPD earlier this year for assaulting his partner. Chael ripped Jones for hitting a woman and called him out. Chael has also gone after Conor McGregor recently for his unpredictable behaviour.
The MMA world was curious to see if Jones would take the opportunity to roast Chael Sonnen now that the tables were reversed. It did not take Jones long to respond but surprising Jones said that he wasn’t going to stoop to the same level as Chael and throw him under the bus. Jones tweeted and said that he wished him well and also wished the victims well!
Chael Sonnen, I’m not gonna sit here and celebrate you getting battery charges against a female last night. That would make me like you, and I’m nothing like you. Instead I will wish your family well, I wish the victims family well

ESPN does not take kindly to its employees engaging in any behaviour that involves violence or abuse. If Chael was involved in any shenanigans, it is quite possible that he could end up losing a job he loves at ESPN.
While we don’t know the exact details of the story for now, one thing we do know is that Uncle Chael as he is popularly called will give us a full (his) version of what happened when he gets the chance to post his next YouTube video.
