The Las Vegas Golden Knights have had a dream run in their first season of the National Hockey League (NHL) and surprised just about everybody. They won Game 1 against the Washington Capitals 6-4 in the Stanley Cup playoffs and were keen on winning Game 2 on Wednesday night and taking a 2-0 lead.
The Capitals bounced back in Game 2 and won 3-2 to even the series 1-1 and give the fans a lot more exciting going into Game 3 which takes place on Sunday. Game 2 wasn’t a goal fest for the fans but there was still a lot of excitement as the game was evenly contested and fans got to see Alex Ovechkin score his first Stanley Cup final goal.
The Golden Knights drew first blood early on in the first period when James Neal scored and gave the Knights a 1-0 lead. The Capitals fought back and evened the score in the 17 th minute of the first period when Lars Eller equalized.
The Capitals then put the Knights under pressure in the second period as they scored two goals as Brooks Orpik and Ovechkin gave the Capitals a 3-1 lead. The Knights were under pressure and managed to close out the second period with their second goal as Shea Theodore made it 3-2.
The Knights could have equalized but Braden Holtby had a very good game and came up as many as 37 saves to keep the Capitals in the game and help them to win Game 2.

The Capitals know that the Golden Knights are going to come even harder at them in Game 3 as they will want to bounce back from this loss with a strong performance. Holtby will continue to be a key player for the Capitals and his performance will be one of the key factors in determining whether the Capitals can keep the Golden Knights at bay and secure Game 3.

That's hockey sometimes. A couple of breaks didn't go our way last game with penalty calls and if you keep doing the right thing, that goes your way
The Capitals will have an advantage going into Game 3 as they will be playing on home turn and will have the momentum after winning Game 2.
