Warriors Lose Kevin Durant But Still Win Game 5 Against Rockets May 9, 2019 Adrian Sterne https://plus.google.com/u/0/107032931670136448831

The Houston Rockets and the Golden State Warriors had the series tied at 2-2 going into Game 5 on Wednesday night. The Rockets had the momentum with them as they bounced back after losing the first two games to win the next two.

Both teams know how crucial it is to win Game 5 as the team that has won Game 5 has 82 percent of the time gone on to win the playoffs.

The Rockets played well but fell short in the final minutes of the game and lost 99-104 at the Oracle Arena, the home of the Warriors.

The Rockets had a good start to the game as they kept Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant from scoring for the first 8 minutes of the game. However, they messed up with their shooting and allowed the Warriors to take the rebounds and make the most of their chances. The Warriors led the first quarter 31 to 17 even though Stephen Curry was struggling.

The Rockets came back in the second quarter as James Harden showed his class along with Eric Gordon and P.J. Tucker. The two teams scoring 26 points each in the second quarter but the Warriors still maintained the lead.

House of Highlights

It was in the third quarter where the Rockets really fought back and had their best moments finishing the quarter on 29-15. The scores were tied at the end of the third quarter but more importantly the Warriors were without the services of Kevin Durant who got injured during the final minutes of the quarter.

Fans of the Houston Rockets expected them to continue their momentum going into the fourth quarter and capitalize on a team that was without Durant – who was clearly the best player for the Warriors in the first three quarters. However, the Rockets failed to do that and James Harden’s scoring was significantly limited in the final quarter which cost them the game.

Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson Step Up

Stephen Curry had a very bad night as he missed so many shots that could have cost the Warriors this game. Once Durant limped off with a strained right calf, Curry stepped up his game and received great support from Klay Thompson who was on fire all night. Curry finished with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists while Thompson topped the scoring for the Warriors with 27 points, 4 rebounds and 1 assist.

Game 6 is scheduled to take place on Friday night and it will be a must win game for the Rockets to keep the series alive!
