Summary:
- India and Australia are set to face off in a 5 match T20 series
- Senior players from both sides will miss out due to the hectic scheduling
- We take a look at the two squads for the T20 series
The 2023 ICC World Cup which lasted for 6 weeks just came to an end on 19 Nov.
Hosts India and Australia met in the ODI World Cup final and Australia got the better of India to win their 6th ICC ODI World Cup.
The crazy ICC cricket schedule will now see both teams face each other in a 5 match ODI series. One can argue whether India and Australia are playing too much white ball cricket against each other as this will be the 4th white ball bilateral series between the two sides since Sep 2022.
The first T20 will take place on Nov 23 in Vishakhapatnam, the second game will be held on Nov 26 at Thiruvananthapuram, the third match will be on Nov 28 at Guwahati, the fourth match on Dec 1 at Raipur and the final game will be on Dec 4 in Bengaluru.
Cricket fans will also wonder why these two sides are playing another series, just 4 days after the World Cup as both sides have decided to rest their senior players for the T20 series. Australia will be without captain Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazelwood, David Warner, Cameron Green and Mitch Marsh.
Australia need their senior players to rest up and prepare for a long summer which starts in December with a 3 match test series against Pakistan. Australia will be led by Matthew Wade during this series.
India have also rested all of their key players including captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja. India will be led by Suryakumar Yadav in the T20 series.
