The LA Lakers will be happy in one way that LeBron James did not seriously injure himself.
However, the MRI scans show that his groin strain is serious enough for him to have to take time-off and allow his injury a chance to heal.
The Lakers are currently in fourth place on the Western Conference points table with a 20-14 record and the Clippers are right behind them. At this point in time, there is no information as to how many games LeBron James will have to miss but the team is preparing for him to be absent for quite some time.

What makes things even more difficult for the Lakers is that Rajon Rondo is also out with a finger injury. While Rondo is expected to make his return shortly, it is quite possible that he could also have to sit out the next few games. Rondo has been a key player for the Lakers along with James and will be desperately missed. The Lakers say that pain management is a key to getting Rondo back and if he can play through the pain, he will be up for selection.
Brandon Ingram hasn’t received as much attention this season as he would have liked as James and Rondo have lead from the front. However, in their absence is it a perfect time for him to show the Lakers what he did last season and take on more responsibility.
It’s an opportunity for me to go out there and play my game a little bit more. I think I’m going to be a little bit more ball-dominant, cutting off the basketball. I have to play even better defense and be on the help side on the defensive end. So it’s a chance for me to just up my game a little bit.

Lakers coach Luke Walton knows just how much the team depends on James and Rondo but remained positive that it was a chance for the rest of the team to put their hands up and be counted. It isn’t going to be easy for the Lakers as their next few games are against teams who are also fighting hard to make it to the conference playoffs. The Lakers will have to play well and win to keep their hopes alive and give LeBron James a chance to lead them to the NBA finals
