Jake Paul vs. Hasim Rahman Jr. CancelledSummary

  • Jake Paul vs. Hasim Rahman Jr. fight for Aug 6 fell through
  • UFC President Dana White alleged fight cancelled due to poor ticket sales at MSG
  • MSG rep fight wasn’t cancelled due to poor ticket sales as ticket sales were good

YouTuber and social media star Jake Paul was initially set to fight Tyson Fury’s brother Tommy Fury on Aug 06 at the iconic Madison Square Garden (MSG) in New York. The fight fell through in July after Tommy Fury claimed he was having visa issues that prevented him from coming to the United States.

This was the second time that Tommy Fury pulled out and Jake Paul was furious as he was in training camp and was determined to headline the card at MSG on Aug 06. Most Valuable Promotions which represents Jake, managed to find him an opponent as Hasim Rahman Jr, decided to take the fight on short notice.

Jake Paul vs. Hasim Rahman Jr – Why Was It Cancelled?

Last week news broke that the fight between Jake Paul and Hasim Rahman Jr. had fallen through. Jake Paul’s camp alleged that they had to cancel the fight because Hasim Rahman Jr. was having weight issues leading up to the fight and was going to struggle to make official weight.

UFC President Dana White gave media reporters a different version and said he wasn’t surprised the fight fell through because Jake Paul and Most Valuable Promotions were having a hard time with ticket sales and were struggling to fill MSG. White and Jake Paul have been at loggerheads for a long time as Jake has criticized the UFC’s policy on fighter pay.

White made it clear that he wasn’t shitting on Jake Paul and offered him a word of advice and told him to find another promoter if he was serious about his boxing career.

MSG Rep Claims Ticket Sales Were Doing Good

An MSG representative spoke to MMA Fighting this week and confirmed that the report put out by Dana White wasn’t true. The rep wanted to remain anonymous and claimed that the Jake Paul vs. Hasim Rahman Jr. fight was already trending to be on the list of the top 10 highest grossing boxing events since 2007 at MSG. He also claimed that ticket sales generally tend to be the highest in the final week.

Jake Paul is yet to release an official statement and clarify the claims made by Dana White.
