Michael Schumacher accomplished a lot in his F1 career that will see him go down as one of the best to have ever done it. He has 7 Formula One championships and won a total of 91 F1 races with 155 podium finishes.
His F1 career was cut short in 2013 not because of any injury on the track but due to a tragic skiing accident which left him paralysed from the neck down and left millions of Schumacher fans disappointed as the realized as time passed that they were never going to see their favourite racer on the track again.
Schumacher’s family have kept things very private over the years and only let fans know that Michael was in their home in the Swiss Alps and was receiving the best treatment possible. The family had asked both the media and the fans to respect their privacy as this is what Michael had wanted.
The Schumacher family surprised a lot of people by making a statement in the media to wish his legion of fans a Happy New Year and also to announce that they plan to release an official Michael Schumacher app to celebrate his 50th birthday on Jan 3. There are quite a few Schumacher apps going around but this would be the official one which would create a virtual museum of Schumacher’s accomplishments in F1.
In a statement, the family said
As a gift to him, you and us, Keep Fighting Foundation has created a virtual museum. The Official Michael Schumacher App will be released tomorrow, so that we can review all together Michael’s successes. The app is another milestone to do justice to him and you, his fans, by celebrating his accomplishments. We wish you a lot of fun with it.
The family also stated that his fans can also enjoy the Michael Schumacher Private Collection exhibition in Cologne. They continue to give back to society through the Keep Fighting Foundation which is inspired by Schumacher.
The Schumacher name will continue to grace the racing tracks as his son Mick Schumacher has decided to follow in his father’s footsteps. Mick started racing in 2008 and his career is moving in the right direction as he recently won the 2018 FIA F3 European Championship.
He will now look to move into the F2 circuit as he has signed with Prema Racing and will then look to move into F1 and let fans know that there is another Schumacher on the F1 track.
