The Boston Bruins and the St. Louis Blues are gearing up for game two of the Stanley Cup finals.
The Bruins are playing host for the first two games of the series.
In the first game, The blues came out and took 2-0 lead early in the second period. But after that, it was all Bruins. The Bruins scored four goals in a row, to take a 4-2 win.
Boston extends their lead in the Stanley Cup, and will look to extend that further tonight. If Boston wins, they will have complete control of the series and St. Louis will have to scramble.
The puck line for game two with BetOnline is -1.5 in favour of Boston.
Boston started slowly in game one, but quickly turned their performance around. They forced St. Louis to blow a two goal lead and put themselves in a great spot. Tony Krug levelled Robert Thomas without a helmet on and that started the beginning of the end for the Blues.
Teams that win game one of the Stanley Cup finals have gone on to win the championship 77.2 percent of the time. That number is since the format was changed to a best-of-seven series in 1939. The Bruins extended their winning streak to eight games with the win. Boston is showing their depth, and St. Louis is unable to match it.
For the rest of the series, Boston is going to have to rely on its defense. When Boston’s defense is strong, they come out and play well.
The Blues went back to their hotels stunned. What looked like a win early on changed quickly in the second period. St. Louis had all the momentum pulled from them and collapsed early in the second period. To win game two the Blues are going to half to get their act together.
The Blues have some injury problems right now, but they look to have some relief for the second game. St. Louis needs to be consistent on both sides of the ice. Boston is on fire right now, but if anyone can stop them it is St. Louis. St. Louis is in need of some momentum in the series. They have to avoid falling into a 2–0 hole because if they do Boston will have the series all locked up. It should be a good game, and a game that St. Louis wants to win.
The Bruins have all of the momentum in the world right now. After a big win over St. Louis in the opening game, Boston is now on a extended run in the playoffs. In the preseason this was a team thought to be one of the top teams coming into the season, and now they are certainly playing like it. Tonight I think the Bruins are going to play well again. I would take the Bruins and feel good about it.
