Nick Diaz hasn’t fought in the Octagon since 2015 and has been one of the most elusive fighters to get an interview with over the years. He finally sat down with Ariel Helwani from ESPN (video below) and got a few things off his chest.
Nick Diaz is the older brother of Nate Diaz who fought Jorge Masvidal recently at UFC244 for the BMF (baddest mother fucker) belt. Masvidal ended up winning the fight due to a stoppage as Nate had suffered two significant cuts above and below his eye.
If you have followed the career of the Diaz brothers, you know that Nick Diaz has always looked out for Nate over the years.
The reason why Nate got into MMA was because of Nick and he paid him tribute during the weigh-ins when he referred to Nick who was at his side as the greatest-of-all-time.

Nick Diaz remained elusive on whether he wanted to come back to the Octagon and start fighting full time again. However, he did confirm that he was open to fighting Masvidal next because he was disrespectful to Nate. He did not call out Masvidal but put the emphasis on Masvidal telling him he knew what he needed to do.
In a statement, Nick Diaz said
You want to talk about baptizing my younger brother? That’s on you. I never had nothing disrespectful to say. But you don’t talk about baptizing my younger brother. So you’re already in a (bleep) position if you fight with me. You don’t talk about (bleep) baptizing someone’s brother. That’s my baby brother. You don’t talk like that to nobody.
He also went on to say that everyone knew that the BMF belt was his belt and that he was open to fighting Masvidal at the Cowboys stadium in Dallas. Jorge Masvidal’s manager Abe Kawa has confirmed that Masvidal will respond to Nick Diaz shortly via social media.
Even though Nick Diaz hasn’t been in the MMA game for the last five years, he has a massive fan following that like to be known as the ‘Nick Diaz Army’ which is also the name of academy where the Diaz brothers train.
It is interesting to see Nick Diaz do an interview after all these years and talk about a potential fight, especially because UFC President Dana White went on record at the UFC244 post-fight interview to say that he thought Nick Diaz would never fight again.
