New England Patriots receiver Antonio Brown kept a straight face and remained upbeat about his first season with the Patriots as he spoke to the press and refused to address his off-field controversies.
Brown was released by his former team the Oakland Raiders earlier this month and was quickly picked up by the Patriots who signed the talented receiver to a 12 month contract worth $15 million. While his new deal with the Patriots should be making headlines, Brown has been forced to deal with the media attention arising out of a sexual assault lawsuit.
Brown’s former trainer Britney Taylor who is a gymnast filed a lawsuit against Brown stating that she was sexually assaulted twice during training and later raped. Brown and Taylor knew each other as they went to Central Michigan University in the past. Taylor in her lawsuit stated that the two sexual assaults took place in June 2017 and the rape took place nearly a year later in May 2018.

Brown’s attorney has denied all of the allegations and has vowed to not only clear his name but to fight and protect professional athletes who often have to deal with false accusations. While Brown does have a point of professional athletes being the target of scammers, there have been other reports of Brown resorting to similar behaviour.
A woman who was hired to paint his house, claimed that while she was doing her job, he walked around with a tiny towel around his waist towards her. He is also being sued by another trainer and a doctor for failing to pay their services.

With more allegations piling up against Brown, Nike decided to call it a day and end their sponsorship with the Patriots receiver. While some of Brown’s apparel is still available on the Nike site, his shoes have been taken down.
Brown spoke to the media for the first time since joining the New England Patriots and sidestepped all of these controversies preferring to talk only about his future with the Patriots.
He took the time to thank head coach Bill Belichick and star player Tom Brady for welcoming him into the team and said that he was very grateful to be part of the team. One of the things that he plans to work on during his time with the Patriots is improving his offense.
