UFC President Dana White went live on social media to announce a number of great fights that will take place during the next few months.
The big announcement that fans were waiting for was regarding what plans the UFC had for International Fight Week that takes place every year in July.
The UFC was initially looking at trying to put together a massive heavyweight fight between current champ Jon Jones and former champ Stipe Miocic but the fight never materialized and is likely to take place later in the year.
The UFC has a number of exciting events and promotions planned during International Fight Week. UFC 290 will top things off as the UFC has put together a fantastic card that features two title fights which should excite US UFC bettors.
UFC 290 will be held at the T-Mobile Arena facility in Paradise, Nevada and take place on July 08. There are a number of international fights that will fight on this card with the Main Card featuring fighters from the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Brazil and South Africa.
The Main Event will see UFC featherweight champ and the number 2 pound for pound ranked Alexander Volkanovski fight interim featherweight champ Yair Rodriguez to unify the featherweight championship. The Co-Main event will see UFC flyweight champion Brandon Moreno defend his belt against Brazilian Alexandre Pantoja.
UFC fans will not be surprised with both these title fights as the UFC made it clear that Alexander Volkanovski will need to defend his belt against Yair Rodriguez before he can think about pushing for a rematch against UFC lightweight champ Islam Makachev.
Brandon Moreno also made it clear after his last title defense that he wanted to fight Alexandre Pantoja who was the number one contender. This will be a trilogy fight for them as Moreno has fought Pantoja on two occasions so far and lost both times.
The UFC has also confirmed that Robert Whittaker will fight Dricus Du Plessis to determine who will likely be the next opponent UFC Middleweight champ Israel Adesanya faces next. This card will also see Dan Hooker return to the Octagon to take on the dangerous Jalin Turner.
