The 2019 Valero Texas Open is set to tee off on Thursday from AT&T Oaks Course at TPC San Antonio.

This is the last stop on tour before the Master’s next weekend at Augusta National, and many of the top players in the world are sitting this one out.

With many of the big names missing from the field, it does give someone a chance to win the trophy and earn a trip to Augusta next weekend.

Latest Betting Odds

Let’s take a look at the betting odds to win the tournament, and talk about a few of the golfers.

Favorites:

Rickie Fowler +1000: It really is no surprise that Rickie Fowler is the overwhelming favorite to win this event. I think most golf analysts and fans would agree that Fowler is clearly the best player in the field this weekend, and he will be trying to tighten things up before the Masters. Fowler already has a win under his belt this season, and has played well in several tournaments.

Matt Kuchar +1600: Matt Kuchar is no stranger to this event, and was the runner-up here in 2001. The number 16 ranked player was a winner at the Sony Open in January, and has the feel of a golfer who can win this event. Kuchar comes into San Antonio with plenty of momentum.

Tony Finau +1600: Tony Finau struggled at last weekend’s WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, but has been a consistent top-10 finisher in most of his starts. Finau hasn’t won on the PGA Tour since 2016, but he has had several close calls along the way. Could this be the weekend that he snaps a long streak?

Contenders:

Jordan Spieth +2000
Billy Horschel +2200
Sungjae Im +2500
Jason Kokrak +2800
Jim Furyk +2800
Lucas Glover +3300
Byeong Hun An +3500

Jordan Spieth and Sungjae Im are the two most intriguing golfers from this list of contenders. Spieth has been in a major slump of late, and hasn’t won on the PGA Tour since 2017. The Texan has had success in this tournament in the past, finishing as runner-up back in 2015. Sungjae Im is a rookie on the PGA Tour, but he has been extremely impressive. He has finished better than 7th place already five different times, and it is just a matter of time before he wins a tournament.

Longshots:

Aaron Baddeley +4000
Abraham Ancer +4000
Graeme McDowell +4000
Haotong Li +4000
Jhonattan Vegas +4000
Lucas Bjerregaard +4000
Ryan Moore +4000
Everyone Else +5000 or Higher

The two biggest names to watch from the list of longshots are Abraham Ancer and Lucas Bjerregaard. Ancer has played at this course twice already in his young career, and made the cut both times. Bjerregaard was impressive at the Match Play Championships last week, and should have plenty of momentum after knocking off Tiger Woods.

Winner:

Jordan Spieth +2000 – It has been a long time since Jordan Spieth has finished a golf tournament on top, but that is going to change this weekend. Spieth should feel comfortable with this course being so close to home, and there isn’t much competition for him to contend with. The young Texan will win this event and take a ton of momentum with him into the Masters Tournament next weekend.
