Wynn Sports Expands Deal with Scientific Games To Cover Indiana & Colorado September 7, 2020 Adrian Sterne https://plus.google.com/u/0/107032931670136448831

Wynn SportsIn July 2020, Wynn Resorts launched their shared venture with Scientific Games in New Jersey. The shared venture was called Wynn Sports and offered players a casino and sports betting app. Wynn recently elected to expand their deal to cover the states of Indiana and Colorado.

Wynn first indicated their plans to enter the Indiana and Colorado gaming markets in fall 2019, after they announced their team-up with Las Vegas-based casino operator Full House Resorts to explore possibilities in both markets.

During that time, sports betting remained illegal in Colorado. The state legalized sports betting in November 2019, and took their first legal bets in May 2020.

Wynn Sports, the app developed by Scientific Games for Wynn Resorts, was launched on July 27 after being granted approval by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement. The app is powered by Scientific Games’ platforms for sports betting and online betting: OpenSports and OpenGaming.

OpenGaming is a renowned content aggregator that offers more than 2,000 of the best online casino games today, including Raging Rhino, 88 Fortunes and Zeus. The new terms of the deal mean that Scientific Games will provide their Wynn Sports technology to Indiana and Colorado. The deal also states that the app users from Indiana and Colorado will also have access to Scientific Games’ OpenSports and OpenPlatform systems.

OpenPlatform is Scientific Games’ one-stop shop system for operators’ player account management needs, including payment and authentication, e-wallets, and promotions.

Wynn’s New Jersey Launch Done Quietly

In New Jersey, only casino operators were allowed to seek a license for online gaming. Due to Wynn’s absence in the state, they had to partner with Caesars Interactive to launch their app in the Garden State. Caesars Interactive is the digital gaming wing of Caesars Entertainment Inc. Caesars holds three casinos in Atlantic City: Tropicana Atlantic City, Harrah’s Atlantic City, and Caesars Atlantic City.

Wynn’s launch in New Jersey was a quiet one, surprising many in the industry. Wynn now provides sports betting and online gaming in New Jersey through Caesars’ iGaming license in New Jersey.

One positive aspect of Wynn’s late launch was in its timing. In late July, most of the mainstream sports leagues started to resume operations after more than three months of suspension due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

With mainstream sports resuming, many in the industry believe that sports betting revenues will bounce back shortly.
