The days of fight promoters going behind the scenes and putting fights together are going out of style. The modern way is to leverage social media, talk thrash, generate interest and sell the fight to generate more pay-per-views (PPV).
This is exactly what YouTuber Jake Paul is trying to do in an effort to fight Irish MMA superstar Conor McGregor.
Jake Paul is one of the top YouTubers in the world with over 20 million followers and his videos have to close 7 billion views. The 23 year old has also fought two professional boxing fights in his career and has a 2-0 record. His last fight was against former NBA player Nate Robinson on the Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. Card.
This was a PPV card which turned into the 8th biggest PPV card in history. Jake Paul is keen on fighting Conor McGregor in a boxing ring and running up another big PPV card. Paul took to social media to call out McGregor and did so in controversial fashion by insulting McGregor’s wife Dee Devlin.
Paul in a foul mouthed tirade accused McGregor of continuing to beat up old men (in reference to the Dublin pub incident) and pleasuring himself because he is sick of being with his wife. He went on to insult the mother of McGregor’s two children by claiming she was a 4 out of 10 and reminding McGregor that he could do better.

Dee Devlin has been with McGregor all the way and believed in him even when he was on social security. Paul knows how special she is to McGregor and has deliberately targeted her to get McGregor to respond and accepted the fight.
Jake Paul claimed in his video that his team had sent McGregor a $50 million offer to fight him and urged him to accept it. He also reminded McGregor that in the boxing ring the Irish superstar has a 0-1 record as he lost to Floyd Mayweather.
McGregor is reported to have made close to $100 million from his fight with Mayweather. He is currently scheduled to fight in the UFC and take on Dustin Poirier on Jan 24 in Abu Dhabi. McGregor has expressed interest in returning to the boxing ring and fighting Manny Pacquiao.
However, the thrash talk and insults to his wife along with the $50 million offer might sway McGregor into accepting the fight with Jake Paul.
